Martinsburg Freshman Wins Rematch Against Musselman, 26-6

The first meeting between the Martinsburg and Musselman freshman football teams ended in a 20-20 tie a few weeks ago. This time around, there would be no tie.


In an exciting rematch between two talented young teams, Martinsburg came out on top with a 26-6 victory over Musselman. From big plays to turnovers and exciting moments on both sides of the ball, this matchup gave everyone a glimpse into what the future could hold for these young programs.

One of the more ironic moments of the game involved the quarterbacks. Both quarterbacks threw interceptions and somehow, both quarterbacks also caught interceptions! You definitely don’t see that happen every day.


Despite the final score, there was plenty of young talent on display for both teams.

Musselman has several 8th graders playing at the high school level, and they may be some of the most talented eighth graders I’ve seen this year. Leading the group is quarterback and safety Azariah “Azzi” Thomas, who is already showing that he belongs competing at the high school level. It will be exciting to watch his development over the next few years.


On the Martinsburg side, the Bulldogs appear to have found something special in the connection between quarterback Kevin “Hollywood” Hendricks and wide receiver Javion King.


King has already scored five touchdowns in his first two weeks of high school football, and the connection between Hendricks and King has quickly become one to watch. Both players have also made an impact on the defensive side of the ball, showing their versatility and ability to contribute in multiple ways.

The future looks bright for both Martinsburg and Musselman. These young athletes are only at the beginning of their high school football journeys, and if this rematch was any indication, there should be plenty of exciting football ahead.

Congratulations to Martinsburg on the 26-6 victory, and shoutout to both teams for putting on an entertaining game. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these talented young athletes.

Lacrosse Action at Spring Mills – Photo Gallery Now Live

​ This past weekend I had the opportunity to do something new behind the lens capture lacrosse for the first time at the Spring Mills Lacrosse Fest in Martinsburg, West Virginia. As a sports photographer, I always enjoy stepping into new environments and learning the flow of different sports. Lacrosse was fast, physical, and full of energy, which made it a lot of fun to photograph. From quick stick checks to fast breaks and goal celebrations, there were plenty of great moments throughout the games. Can Washington Make History Against State Champs Spring Mills?

​ Tonight, all eyes in West Virginia high school basketball will be on Washington High School, as the No. 4 ranked Washington Patriots host the defending state champions and No. 2 ranked Spring Mills Cardinals in one of the most anticipated matchups of the season. This marks the second meeting between these two programs. Their first matchup on January 6, 2026, was a lopsided affair, with Spring Mills controlling the game from start to finish in a 61–38 victory. Since that loss, Washington has responded in a big way. The Patriots enter tonight’s contest 5–0 since January 6, carrying an impressive 11–1 overall record. They’ve found their rhythm on both ends of the floor and now have a chance on their home court to become the first West Virginia team to defeat Spring Mills since February 1, 2025.
