Sweet Revenge: Spring Mills Gets Redemption with 46-28 Win Over Wheeling Park By MOB Sports Media Sometimes, the best victories are the ones that come with a little bit of redemption. After falling to Wheeling Park 33-28 last season, the Spring Mills Cardinals traveled to Wheeling Park on Friday night with an opportunity to settle the score. This time, the Cardinals made sure the outcome was different. Spring Mills walked into Wheeling Park’s home stadium and came away with an impressive 46-28 victory , earning some sweet revenge while making a statement against one of West Virginia’s talented football programs. By MOB Sports Media A Different Cardinals Defense One of the biggest storylines heading into tonight’s matchup is the Spring Mills defense. Last season, the Cardinals simply couldn’t find an answer for Wheeling Park running back Brennan Wack . Wack was one of the most dominant running backs in the area during the opening stretch of the season, rushing for an incredible 1,205 yards during Wheeling Park’s first five games . He carried the ball 31 times for 233 yards and five touchdowns , putting the Cardinals’ defense under constant pressure throughout the game. Spring Mills had no answer for Wack that night, and his performance played a major role in Wheeling Park’s 33-28 victory over the Cardinals . But this year’s Spring Mills team is different. The Cardinals have a linebacker corps that is both physical and fast to the football , and I expect that group to play with a purpose tonight. They remember wha...

Spring Mills finished the 2025 regular season at 6-4 before making a deep postseason run. The Cardinals advanced to the quarterfinals , where they faced the eventual WVSSAC Class AAAA state champions, the Morgantown Mohigans . What followed was one of the most dramatic games of Spring Mills’ season. The Cardinals battled Morgantown into double overtime , ultimately falling by just one point in a heartbreaking finish. For Spring Mills, it was a painful way to see the season end but it also showed just how close this program was to competing with the best in the state. Jefferson’s season took a very different path. After opening the regular season 0-4 , the Cougars completely turned things around, winning six consecutive regular-season games to finish 6-4. That momentum carried into the playoffs. Jefferson went 2-1 in the postseason , advancing to within one game of the state championship game before eventually falling to Morgantown. And that Morgantown connection is worth re...
